Hi All.

Woken up this morning to find one of the wheels has been stolen off our car.  Last week it was our bin, and now its a wheel!  It doesnt help we have no street lights on Circus Drive - well we have them but Gallaghers/the council havent turned them on.  We have never been stolen from until we moved here and its the third time in 8 months.  Is anyone else having problems?  We really think street lighting would help reduce this behaviour - and - cant believe I'm thinking this - CCTV? Worst of all, there is very little we can do to protect ourselves against this kind of petty theft.

By the way the wheel was from a Ford Ka - so it costs about £40 new - if anyone knows anything let us know.

Thanks, Lela and Nick

Lela and Nick - I'm sorry to hear about this...please do make sure you report it to the police and get a crime reference number. The police cannot resource security at Orchard Park without this information. Out of interest, was it parked in your private parking area or on Circus Drive itself...?

I can raise the lights issue with Gallagher - is it the streetlights on Circus Drive that are not powered up, or the streetlights within the Laing building plot? The latter are the responsibility of Laing not Gallagher...so you'd need to raise this with Laing yourself. None of the street lighting is the yet the responsibility of any council.

Thanks, Nick

Hi Nick. We reported it this morning to the police. I used to work as a scenes of crime officer so have taken in the wheel trim they left behind for them to collect and do some chemical treatment on to see if there are any fingerprints. It was parked at the front. Ususally it is in our carport, but as Rosehip Road (the road by which we access our carport) was having block paving work done on it last week we were unable to gain access to our carport for a few days and hadnt used it this weekend so hadnt moved it back.

Spoken to Laing. The street lights are Gallaghers and they are pushing for them to be turned on too. The saleswoman at Laing at the moment is really helpful. We also emailed Gallaghers this morning requesting they turn them on asap. Not that its their fault that crime is occuring, but its a fact less crime occurs in well lit areas. Fingers crossed for a result.

Thanks for your reply, Lela and Nick
